Are Spurs about to offer Dele Alli a new contract?

According to multiple different reports in the media today, Tottenham Hotspur are about to offer midfield star Dele Alli an improved contract before the end of the season.

The 21-year old attacking midfielder, who is also a full England international and is expected to be named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup in June, is reportedly looking for a considerable increase on his current £60,000 per week, six-year deal he signed in September 2016. According to the Telegraph, the club are looking to offer Alli a deal worth upwards of £100,000 per week.

Despite the dip in his performances this season, Alli remains one of the most promising young players in Europe and the club are confident that he will sign the improved long-term deal which will tie him down to the club for the foreseeable future and at the same time send a message to the likes of Real Madrid and the two Manchester Clubs, who have been interested in signing him for a while now.

Other leading players at the club, such as Harry Kane and Toby Alderwiereld are also expected to be offered improved long-term deals and talks with both are scheduled for the end of this month, with the hope that the contracts will be signed by the end of the season before the World Cup starts.

Kane’s deal in particular is one which all Spurs fans would like to see done and dusted in the next few months. The England striker, who broke the Premier League record for the most goals scored in a calendar year by a player in 2017 and has been repeatedly linked with Real Madrid in the last year or so following his goal scoring exploits, is expected to be offered a deal which will make him the highest paid player in the history of the club, with talk of a £200,000 per week deal being offered in order to tie him down to the club for the long-term.
